This being my first professional short film, I wanted to create something that I could explore new ideas with. I had no idea what would come from my original idea (the beginning montage) but I am very happy with how it turned out. Trying to combine themes of mental illness/loneliness with optimism/empathy, was no easy feat. Regardless, I strongly believe those feelings go hand in hand, and I am glad I was able to visually showcase it.

Elon University's radio station, WSOE 89.3FM, releases it's third version of Dweller (a NPR Tiny Desk inspiration) starring Bedroom Division, an indie dream pop band from Greensboro, NC. They played five original songs and one cover.

My Goal:

This was the third performance in WSOE 89.3's series - Dweller. Bedroom Division is an indie, dream pop band and I wanted to ensure that the lighting and camerawork equal the vibe their songs give. This was my first experience sound mixing music in post-production and it taught me a lot (especially patience).

This was my first time co-directing and also shooting on 16mm film. I wanted to ensure that Andre's vision for this film was conveyed the best way possible. Transforming his love for "slow cinema" into a short film was a fun and unique process. I thoroughly enjoyed partnering with Andre on this project and expanding my collaboration for filmmaking.

Description:

One of Elon University's oldest acapella groups, Shirley Tempos, performed in Whitley Auditorium on November 16 for their annual fall concert.

My Goal:

This was the first live performance I shot completely by myself. This challenged me to visually complement intricate harmonies and raw emotion using a multicam setup. Through editing, I learned how subtle choices can amplify the music’s impact, and I’m proud of how this piece preserves the intimacy of the live moment.

About

This promo video for Banks Electrical Company was an emotional project, as it was for my dad’s company. Through the process, I learned the importance of structured pre-production—filming interviews first to shape the story, gathering b-roll to support the narrative, and always having a secondary audio source.
